Elegant New York City Wedding
Elegant New York City Wedding
Hannah & Danny // New York, New York
Meet Mr. & Mrs. Pyun! Hannah and Danny’s classic NYC wedding embodied everything that makes this city so magical - the energy, the romance, the boldness. New York City is a place of endless possibilities, and the New York Public Library is one of its most iconic buildings. The library is not only a historic landmark but also a beautiful venue for a wedding. A New York Public Library wedding is a unique and sophisticated way to celebrate your special day. As I captured their photos on the steps of the New York Public Library, I couldn't help but feel grateful to be a part of such a timeless moment. I always ask my couples what they hope to see in their wedding photos, and Hannah and Danny both admitted that they wanted their photos to feel genuine and capture the day's emotions. Like many couples, they were worried they would feel shy in front of the camera, but honestly, the chemistry between these two made my job easy. They were radiating! Their reception at a New Jersey restaurant on the Hudson River was equally breathtaking, with the NYC skyline as their backdrop. There is nothing quite like a New York City wedding, and I can’t wait to share theirs on the blog.
Kind Words from Hannah & Danny
Where do I even begin to describe how talented Lizzie is. First, we received a sneak peek of our wedding literally the day after she took them. How was that even possible?? Did she get any sleep?? You could just tell she loves what she does. Second, her brilliant yet calming energy. I usually look very awkward in photos because the spotlight makes me nervous. But Lizzie was so calm and encouraging. It made me feel at ease and comfortable the entire day. I must add- The photo she took of us was even featured on Anthropologie Weddings!! How awesome is that?! Take a look at her Instagram, and you’ll see how magical all her photos are.
Getting Ready in Manhattan
Hannah and Danny booked rooms at a hotel on the west side of Manhattan to get ready, so that they could remain central and reduce travel time on their wedding day (something I always recommend). Hannah and Danny both consider themselves private people, and Danny even proposed to her with the most heartfelt handwritten letter (which of course turned Hannah into a a leaky faucet!). He got on one knee, and asked her to help pick out a ring. So sweet! Hannah described it as “very intimate and private, just the way I like it”. On their wedding day, they reserved their getting ready time to be with their absolute nearest and dearest. I love when couples are able to honor who they are, and there was such a peacefulness in the air as they were getting ready.
New York Public Library Wedding Photos
Hannah and Danny’s first look and couple portraits started with the iconic New York Public Library set as their backdrop. The architecture of this NYC monument was mesmerizing. Even after photographing weddings in NYC for almost five years, it still takes my breath away. Hannah and Danny’s first look was sweet and heartfelt, and these two looked at each other like they were the only two people in the world. If you are currently in the midst of planning your wedding and dreaming of outdoor wedding photo locations in NYC, just so know that I’m ready to head back to the New York Public Library at any time.
Vintage New York City Cab
The feature would not be complete without sharing some of the wedding portraits we captured in front of the vintage NYC cab. Vintage New York City cabs are an iconic part of the city's history and a unique way to make a statement on your wedding day. A vintage cab adds a touch of nostalgia and elegance to your wedding, making it a memorable and romantic experience. One of the best things about using a vintage cab for your wedding is the ability to take stunning photographs. These classic cars are an excellent backdrop for photos and add a unique touch to your wedding album. The black and white checkered pattern on the sides of the car and the yellow taxi sign on the roof make for an unforgettable photo opportunity. Another advantage of using a vintage cab for your wedding is that it can transport the couple in style.
An Intimate Wedding Ceremony
Hannah mentioned she loved most about the wedding planning process (after being grateful for her wedding planner!) was seeing what a great team she and Daniel made when tackling such a big project. Daniel found a restaurant on New Jersey's waterfront with an uninterrupted view of Manhattan that ended up becoming their wedding venue. Their asymmetrical arch was created from an abundance of baby’s breath and white roses and was a simply stunning backdrop for their unplugged wedding ceremony. After they were pronounced husband and wife, they walked down the aisle and thanked each of their guests for coming, row by row. When they made it to the end, I snuck them out for just a few photos in front of that classic NYC skyline before the sun went down.
Modern New York City Wedding
This New York City wedding was filled with wonderful conversations and good food (courtesy of their restaurant wedding venue - Chart House!). They wanted their guests to enjoy themselves and have a great time. Hannah and Danny have made it their mission to find the best croissant and pizza in NYC, so naturally, great food was a priority on the wedding day. These two met online, and Danny said he knew he needed to get to know Hannah, who was eating ricotta and fig toast “ferociously and passionately” in her profile photo. It was the kind of wedding reception that made you feel closer and closer to Hannah and Danny as the evening went on, and I could not have been more grateful to witness the magic between them and their family and friends.
Congratulations Hannah & Danny! Your wedding was wonderful. I am so happy for you two!
