Lyndhurst Mansion Wedding

Ana & Zach // Tarrytown, New York

Meet Reverend & Mrs. Dean! I loved soaking up all of the regalness of their Lyndhurst Mansion wedding, and I couldn’t wait to share a few of my favorite moments here today. Blue wedding colors have made a serious comeback in weddings this year, and Ana and Zach used a variety of shades to create a modern monochromatic look throughout their wedding day. I might have a little extra love for their color palette because it was similar to my own wedding! Truly though, Ana and Zach made their wedding day their own in so many ways, and I loved documenting all of the incredible and unique details, in a breathtaking setting, with two people so in love.

Looking for a historic wedding venue in New York?
If Lyndhurst Mansion in Tarrytown, New York, formally Lyndhurst Castle, looks familiar, it’s because it was recently featured on HBO's The Gilded Age.

Getting Ready & Wedding Details

Ana and Zach had a large bridal party - nine bridesmaids and five groomsmen - so the photos of the getting ready process were filled with joy and laughter. Their monochromatic blue wedding color palette was featured in both the getting-ready outfits, the mix-matched bridesmaid dresses, and groom accessories. Our bride, Ana, wore a stunning Martina Liana gown. Although it rained during getting ready, the sun came out just in time for us to capture their portraits before the wedding ceremony.

Nestled amidst the picturesque landscape of the Hudson Valley, Lyndhurst Mansion stands as an enchanting testament to timeless romance and architectural splendor. This historic estate, with its magnificent Gothic Revival architecture and stunning gardens, serves as an idyllic backdrop for couples seeking a fairytale wedding. In this blog post, we invite you to step into the world of Lyndhurst Mansion, where love stories come to life against a backdrop of history, elegance, and natural beauty. Lyndhurst Mansion, located in Tarrytown, New York, is a National Historic Landmark that has captivated visitors for generations. Designed by renowned architect Alexander Jackson Davis in the mid-19th century, the mansion is a masterpiece of Gothic Revival architecture. Its imposing turrets, intricate stone carvings, and soaring spires exude an air of grandeur and mystique.

Lyndhurst Mansion is a breathtaking wedding venue in Tarrytown, New York, and I set up Ana and Zach for their first look under the famous porch to save these two from the rain. Ana and Zach were friends first, for several years before they started dating (they met at Pinecrest camp back in 2008!). It took almost a decade for romance to blossom but I think we can all agree, that it was worth the wait. I absolutely loved photographing their portraits because they were just so comfortable with each other. I wanted to capture the fun energy between the two of them, and it didn’t take much for them to laugh with one another.

Lyndhurst Mansion Wedding

For couples dreaming of a fairytale wedding, Lyndhurst Mansion offers a dreamlike setting that goes beyond traditional venues. Its stunning exterior and exquisite interior spaces provide a seamless blend of historical charm and contemporary elegance. Inside the mansion, you'll find beautifully appointed rooms that reflect the opulence of the Gilded Age. The Grand Picture Gallery, adorned with paintings and adorned ceilings, serves as a magnificent space for receptions, while the Drawing Room and Library offer intimate settings for ceremonies and smaller gatherings. Going inside the Lyndhurst Mansion is a treat only allowed for the bride and groom (and paid Mansion tours!). We were allowed to capture wedding portraits in the iconic rooms and it felt like such a privilege to walk the halls of such a historic landmark. You may recognize these rooms from HBO’s The Gilded Age. The gorgeous stained glass windows and the stairwell were simply beautiful. The Lyndhurst Mansion did not disappoint!

Lyndhurst Mansion Greenhouse Ceremony

We were so grateful that the sun came out just in time for them to exchange their vows in the gorgeous greenhouse at Lyndhurst Mansion. Ana and Zach saw each other from across the aisle, and they both burst into happy tears. Their ceremony felt so personal to the two of them, especially with two of Zach’s mentors conducting their Lutheran ceremony. Everyone erupted in cheers when they walked back down the aisle together as husband and wife.

A wedding at Lyndhurst Mansion is an experience like no other. It's a journey into a world of timeless beauty and romantic elegance, where history and love intertwine seamlessly. This enchanting estate, with its breathtaking architecture and lush gardens, invites couples to step into their own fairytale. If you're seeking a venue that exudes charm, sophistication, and natural beauty, Lyndhurst Mansion is the perfect place to start your happily ever after. Your wedding day at this historic gem will be etched in your hearts and memories forever.

Tented Wedding Reception in the Hudson Valley

I always adore an outdoor tented wedding reception. Ana and Zach’s first dance was to a mash-up of two of their best friends singing “I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You;” and it was the most incredible way to kick off their wedding reception. When I asked Ana what she enjoyed most throughout the wedding planning process, she mentioned that she loved finding all the ways to incorporate them and their love story into their wedding day. There were so many tiny pieces and details of their wedding day that made it feel so uniquely them. It was so special watching it all come together under the white tent and string lighting of their tented wedding venue.

Zach mentioned that one of his favorite parts of the planning process was visiting different wedding venues, and I can’t imagine a more perfect wedding venue than the Lyndhurst Mansion for the two of you. They both agreed, the Lyndhurst Mansion offered a combination of everything they liked, from the industrial feel of the greenhouse to an outdoor tented wedding reception. They both love history, and so they loved the quintessential NY gilded age vibes, with a modern bridge in the background. Their wedding venue was a true mash-up of old and new, with a beautiful river-side setting as icing on the cake. They wanted their wedding to feel like the fanciest backyard bash you had ever been to! Let me just say, they knocked it out of the park. The dance floor was packed all night!

Ana & Zach, your wedding day was an absolute fairytale. The perfect day for the sweetest couple. Congratulations!
